Places Leisure’s £22m leisure centre opens in Camberley

Places Leisure and construction partner Pellikaan Construction have developed the new Places Leisure Camberley on the site of the old Arena Leisure Centre for Surrey Heath Borough Council.

Built throughout the pandemic despite the challenges faced by the construction industry over the last 12 months, the new centre offers extensive facilities including a fitness suite equipped with the latest workout machines and apparatus, a 25m six-lane pool, learner pool with adjustable floor and a splash zone (interactive water confidence area).

Other facilities at the site include an eight court sports hall, group exercise studios, health suite, temperature controlled yoga studio, immersive cycling studio, a Clip 'n Climb climbing arena, a Costa Coffee Café as well as a purpose-built adventure play area for families.

Places Leisure were awarded the 25-year Design, Build, Operate and Maintain Contract for the new Camberley leisure centre, along with Pellikaan Construction and architects Roberts Limbrick.

“The breadth of activity offered will ensure that the centre caters for all members of our community and we are looking forward to welcoming more people through the doors and back into activity in the months and years ahead,” said Paul McPartlan, CEO of Places Leisure.
