CoverMe Fitness shortlisted for two National Technology Awards

CoverMe Fitness, the app that aids workforce recruitment, reward and recognition in the fitness industry, is a finalist for two awards at the prestigious 2025 National Technology Awards.

Shortlisted alongside some of the UK’s biggest brands, including Tesco and Lloyds Banking Group in the User Experience Technology of the Year category, CoverMe has been recognised for its ability to connect freelance talent with fitness operators in just three clicks and 21 seconds, making it easier for operators to fill their timetables and fitness professionals to find work. On average, instructors using the app teach 13 more classes a month, earn an additional £485 while saving ten hours a month thanks to automated invoicing and admin tasks.

Depression and anxiety costs the global economy more than $1 trillion annually in lost productivity, with 12 billion working days lost each year. Leading the way in reducing workplace stress in the fitness industry, CoverMe was also chosen as a finalist in the Healthcare Tech of the Year category. The platform solves some of the industry’s biggest pain points, such as recruitment, class swaps, compliance management and team communication to reduce workloads and put a halt to managers being contacted out of office hours.

CEO, Rosanna Tucker says: 'We couldn’t be prouder of all that CoverMe has achieved. We’re on a mission to simplify the lives of operators and fitness professionals alike with a single solution that manages existing teams, workforce compliance, team reward and recognition and also solves recruitment issues, while giving operators 15 hours of time back each week. CoverMe has already been adopted by more than 3,600 health clubs and leisure centres globally, including major brands like Virgin Active, Nuffield Health, Fitness First and Snap Fitness, and more than 10,500 fitness professionals.'

Independent research shows 63% of operators seek cover every week and almost a fifth daily, with 78% contacted out of office hours. Around half are forced to cancel or change classes every month and 41% every week. Cancelled and disrupted schedules lead 16% of customers to cancel their membership and more than a third are less likely to recommend their club. Meanwhile, 54% of instructors avoid time off due to the stresses of arranging cover - all highlighting the critical need for smarter solutions like CoverMe.

Having experienced the struggle firsthand, female founders and fitness industry veterans, Rosanna Tucker and Beverlee Brinkworth, launched CoverMe Fitness in 2023. The app provides a 98% cover rate and a 100% retention rate.

COO, Beverlee Brinkworth says: 'CoverMe has been adopted by every operator that has piloted the system. Based on current growth, CoverMe will enable 3,420 gig opportunities every day in fitness this year. With swimming teachers, personal trainers and sports coaches now also supported, by 2026 we will handle 10,000 opportunities daily - 3.6 million per year.

'Being named a finalist in two categories at the 2025 National Fitness Technology Awards, and recognised alongside such influential companies, demonstrates the impact our platform is making in reducing workplace stress, improving team engagement, and creating more opportunities for fitness professionals. It’s testament to the hard work and dedication of our team and only strengthens our commitment to revolutionising the fitness landscape.'
