The 7,082sq m development will be built on the town centre’s former multi-storey car park, and will include a leisure centre built to BREEAM excellent standards.

The two-storey building will include a 25m swimming pool, alongside learner pool and a spectator area, with a barrel vault rooflight that will provide natural light to this area. There will also be a health suite, gym and multi-purpose rooms, as well as a café, reception and offices for staff use.

This project was procured through the West Wales Regional Contractor Framework and is being part funded by the Welsh Government’s Transforming Towns programme.

Set for completion in spring 2022, Kier will engage with its local supply chain as well as the local community as it delivers this important new infrastructure for Neath.

“The swimming pool, health suite, gym and library will attract many thousands of additional people into the heart of the town centre, including many families, every week. We look forward to welcoming them,” said councillor Rob Jones, leader of Neath Port Talbot Council.
