Gloucester Rugby invests in new training facility

Gloucester Rugby is creating a high performance training centre in a former warehouse next to the Kingsholm Stadium.

Designed to improve the training and playing experience for Gloucester Rugby players, the facility will include a 470sq m gym, supplied by new partner Sportesse, which includes six Olympic lifting platforms, a rehabilitation centre with hot and cold recovery systems and a recovery gym, as well as an indoor high performance training pitch.

The investment also includes an upgrade of the existing pitch at Kingsholm to an artificial turf from Verde Recreo. Approved by Premiership Rugby and World Rugby, the turf will provide a non-directional, even surface with pile resilience for optimal ball behavior, traction and stability. Exceeding the EU’s toughest standards, the polymeric infill releases no heavy metals, PAHS, does not degrade or breakdown, and is fully recyclable. Providing a consistent playing surface in all conditions, the new pitch will allow the club to  host multiple matches in one weekend, including more academy and women’s matches.

The new facility will also include office space and an extended hospitality area. Designed to enhance the match-day experience for fans it will also allow the Club to hold more events and accommodate larger audiences.

“We are very excited to be able to share this news with the fans and are looking forward to starting work on the development in the coming weeks. The development reinforces our commitment to Gloucester and is just the beginning of exciting strides forward for Gloucester Rugby unifying the playing and commercial function in the coming years,” says Lance Bradley, CEO of Gloucester Rugby.

The facilities will be ready to use in July.
