A NEW portable palm cooling device has launched to increase exercise rep ability, decrease fatigue and increase performance in just one session.
The CoreTx GO works by cooling the palms of the user in between sets, reducing the body’s core temperature alerting the brain to reduce fatigue. Cooling the circulating blood from the palms benefits performance in two ways. Firstly, peripheral fatigue: the rising temperature during exercise affects enzymes responsible for contractions, reducing the ability for the muscle to function optimally, causing fatigue. Secondly, central fatigue, the neural impact of palm cooling results in motor unit recruitment, which increases work capacity as more muscle fibres are stimulated and contract, therefore improving performance. Scientific studies, including papers from Stanford University, have shown this simple, localised cooling causes reductions in fatigue and significantly enhances performance.
Peer reviewed scientific literature observed a 40 per cent increase in bench press work volume in three weeks, and a 144 per cent increase in pull up volume in six weeks with experienced subjects. Cryotherapy solutions have increased in popularity over the last few years, with athletes and gym goers tapping into the therapy to maximise their performance and optimise their recovery. Colin Edgar, founder of the CoreTx GO, has been supplying cold therapy solutions to elite sports teams including Team GB, The FA, Manchester United, Manchester City, AC Milan, Bayern Munich and Wimbledon (Tennis) for more than 20 years. The new portable device easily integrates into any gym or training facility and can be used by two people at once.
