Leisure contract issued with activity targets
Everyone Active, the trading name for Sports & Leisure Management, has been set a target of increasing activity levels in Barking and Dagenham Council leisure centres by 35 per cent.
The leisure contractor, which has been awarded a new contract to manage leisure centres across the borough for the next 10 years, has also been tasked with bringing in two million visitors a year to the centres and athletics stadium.
“We have one of the worst records of obesity and life expectancy levels in Britain and while getting more people into our leisure centres is not the sole solution, it’s one of the ways to a healthier, fitter borough,” said Anne Bristow, deputy chief executive & strategic director for service development and integration at Barking and Dagenham Council.
Everyone Active will manage the Abbey and Beacontree Heath Leisure Centres as well as the Jim Peters Stadium from September.
