David Stalker joins Alliance as Advisor to the Board

Leisure development specialist Alliance Leisure has appointed the health and fitness industry veteran, David Stalker, as advisor to the board.

The appointment comes as Alliance Leisure celebrates 25 years of transforming local authority leisure facilities, delivering more than 250 projects with an investment value of over £370 million.

Dave currently serves as president of EuropeActive. A highly respected industry expert, he has held numerous senior executive roles in the sector, including most recently CEO of Myzone EMEA.

As CEO of ukactive and founding chairman of CIMSPA (Chartered Institute Management Sport and Physical Activity), Stalker has been instrumental in raising industry standards, driving positive change and improving public health.

Other former roles include group brands and marketing director at Leisure Connection PLC, managing director of Harpers Fitness Clubs Ltd and chairman of Fit for Sport Ltd. He also holds a number of non-executive director roles.

Dave said: “I’ve been a long-time admirer of Alliance Leisure, particularly of Sarah Watts and Paul Cluett. Sarah is probably the most talented business person in our sector, and both Sarah and Paul are long-term friends and colleagues. Alliance is a trailblazing company, known for its innovation and breaking new pastures and it has an impressive team.

“I have extensive experience across all aspects of our industry, from supplier to operator and local authority to our chartered institute. I have a deep understanding of its direction. My strength lies in using diplomacy to drive initiatives and engage people on the journey.

“As I transition to new roles, my priority is to collaborate with people I like and respect, and most importantly, to work with organisations that have the potential to significantly impact the nation’s health and enhance the quality of our industry.”
