The award recognises organisations with sustainability at the heart of their business. They are fully committed to sustainable best practice and making the world a better and safer place.

Located in Saltash, Cornwall, China Fleet Country Club has introduced a range of green initiatives to reduce its environmental impact, including the installation of 373kWh of solar panels in the past 12 months generating clean energy and significantly reducing their carbon footprint. In addition to renewable technology, the club has its own water supply and treatment plant, which makes it self-sufficient and able to supply quality water with little environmental impact. In 2019 Chine Fleet implemented a waste reduction programme that includes recycling allits plastic, cardboard, tins, aluminium, bottles, newspapers and cooking oil, as well as using also a zero to landfill waste company and encouraging guests to recycle.

Across the hotel, fitness, leisure and golf complex, the Club has installed energy-efficient lighting and appliances, reduced the use of paper by implementing digital systems and has worked with its workforce to implement a sustainable culture across the company. Recently it installed three high speed EV charging units and one slow charging unit in the car park, and introduced a workplace cycle scheme for employees.

“China Fleet Country Club is committed to becoming a more sustainable business. We continue to research and invest in the latest technology and keep it at the forefront of our business strategy,” said Dean Bennett, MD of China Fleet Country Club.
