1Life has signed three-year contracts with BP and Dunnhumby to revitalise and manage corporate gyms in Pangbourne and Shepherd’s Bush as the employers encourage a return to office working.
The deals will see 1Life undetake an ambitious revamp project and oversee the day-to-day running of both gyms. The agreement follows the successful investment and refurbishment of BP’s Meadhurst gym in Sunbury on Thames, which 1Life has managed for more than 15 years.
BP’s Pangbourne gym will undergo a complete overhaul with updated decor and new flooring throughout as well as the latest Pulse Fitness equipment. The project will also include a new open-air gym, personal training programme and indoor and outdoor classes.
The second facility in Shepherds Bush will be managed on behalf of CBRE for Dunnhumby and includes a staffed gym, classes and personal training programme for employees. The facility was launched in April.
The 2,000 employees across the BP and Dunnhumby facilities will have free access to 1Life’s health and fitness solutions, group exercise class programme and wellbeing services as part of their employers’ efforts to support health and wellbeing and encourage a return to the office post Covid.
“The average person spends about a third of their life at work, therefore it is vital employees do what they can to ensure that time is as healthy and happy as it can be. We have a proven track record in engaging, motivating and improving the health and wellbeing of thousands of people across the UK,” said Steve Bambury, operations director at 1Life.
