Combining exciting design with performance at UGym

This January saw the launch of UGym in central Scotland. Established in an old mill, the UGym team refurbished the building and turn it in to a modern fitness facility. The team worked with Origin Fitness to equip the space, from flooring to fitness equipment, and to provide further support in training and gym design.

Different zones

Various zones were installed within UGym, including an Olympic and Powerlifting zone, free weight zone, cardio and strength zone and a functional Redline studio. Each zone had specific needs in terms of flooring, but the most exciting area for the gym was the new Redline space.

In the Redline studio, Origin Fitness installed its 10mm Premium Fitness Roll, which allows for a seamless finish and an ideal base for the custom Redline markings that are the basis for Redline classes. The flooring also helps reduce impact noise; a useful feature within the open expanse of the refurbished mill.

Measuring 9m by 5m, the zone was built to accommodate high volume and high impact training, so the flooring has to protect the subfloor and accessories, while also offering suitable grip for fast-paced functional movements during the classes. Made from repurposed rubber materials for shock-absorption and reduced trip hazards, the Origin 10mm Premium Fitness Roll is ideally suited for this purpose.
