Skateboard GB wins award for Sports Partnership of the Year

Skateboard GB has won the award for Sponsorship / Partnership of the Year at the Sports Business Awards for the work with Habito for ‘Building a partnership with purpose’.

The skateboarding governing body and principal partner Habito developed and launched the Grassroots Skatespaces Project, which has seen them work with a number of community groups to improve and transform their skatespaces, through providing capital investment alongside development support.

Working with each community group brought people together and helped strengthen communities by creating safe spaces for people of all ages and socio-economic groups. The spaces have transformed derelict wasteland and unused dangerous sites into welcoming areas which act as hubs for their communities.

The other award nominations included BT & EE Home, Formula 1 Williams Racing Grand Prix Autograph Series, Lancashire Cricket & Emirates, Nivea Men & Liverpool FC.

“We are honoured to win the award for Partnership of the Year. Our work with Habito was an amazing project which changed the way we use sponsorship to benefit the community groups and skateboarders across the UK. It was a partnership that made a real difference and we are very keen to work with other brands to make a real difference in the skateboarding community,” said James Hope-Gill, CEO of Skateboard GB.
