Olympic Legacy in Action returns to Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park

Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park in partnership with Westfield Health will host the second ‘Olympic Legacy in Action’ event next month.

Part of Move More Month 2023, it follows the successful inaugural event last year which celebrated the 10th anniversary of London 2012 and saw over 2,000 people visit the Park and get involved.

Hosted at various venues across the park, including the English Institute of Sport Sheffield, iceSheffield, Oasis Academy Don Valley and the Community Stadium, the event will take place over three days.

It will include a Schools Event, an Inclusive Sports Event and will culminate with the Community Event, where the public can take part in free taster sessions including rugby, basketball, netball, football, cricket, chairobics, weightlifting, canoeing, climbing, cycling, snooker and coached running sessions.

Last year the Community Event saw an estimated 1,000 people visit the park with over 30 organisations delivering activities across the site.

Olympic Legacy in Action is being held as part of the wider Move More Month – a city-wide strategy with the aim of creating a healthier, happier and more connected Sheffield.

It follows the launch of the Park’s Legacy Fund, a new grant-giving programme for local community organisations to provide services and activities which help support physical and mental health and wellbeing and reduce social isolation.

Administered by South Yorkshire’s Community Foundation, with contributions from partners of Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park, the fund welcomes applications from grassroots community organisations within a three-mile radius of the park.
