KAL invests in community functional training area

Kirklees Active Leisure has worked with Escape Fitness to transform an under-utilised training space at Huddersfield Leisure Centre into a functional training area designed to engage a wider segment of the community.

The centrepiece of the functional space is a freestanding, bespoke Octagon frame, designed to offer optimal flexibility via training zones that accommodate a wide range of training abilities. The training space accommodates a variety of exercises, from battle ropes and body weight training to reaction exercises and core conditioning movements.

“Our community is extremely diverse. We wanted to create an inclusive training environment that would encourage and inspire everyone to train, not just our experienced gym-goers” says Jenn Flaherty, fitness development manager, at Kirklees Active Leisure.

“We wanted to create a non-intimidating, accessible functional training environment that could support the needs of everyone.”
