New Brinnington Sports and Leisure Centre officially opens

A new multi-million pound sports and leisure centre has officially opened in Brinnington.

The £7m Brinnington Park Leisure Complex, developed through investment from Stockport Council, will be operated by Life Leisure, replacing the old Lapwing facility which closed its doors in February.

The centre was developed to programme and to budget by Willmott Dixon.

Facilities in the new centre include a gym, an aerobics studio, boxing gym, four court sports hall and an outdoor 3G football pitch. The centre will provide a weekly programme of activities and will be home to numerous local sports clubs.

“I’d like to thank the local ward councillors, Council officers and partners for remaining focussed and persistent on delivering Brinnington’s master plan and subsequent regeneration – this will enhance an already great community and place to live,” said councillor Sheila Bailey from Stockport Council’s Cabinet for Communities and Housing.
